Job Description
Safeguarding Officer

Pay: SO1, NCP Points 23 - 28

Contract type: permanent

Start date: Autumn 2026

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in ensuring that safeguarding and child protection arrangements across the school are effective, robust and compliant with statutory guidance.
  • Provide high-quality administrative, pastoral and operational support to the safeguarding team, ensuring that concerns are recorded accurately, referrals are processed promptly and vulnerable students receive appropriate support.
  • Work collaboratively with students, families, staff and external agencies to promote student welfare and contribute to a strong culture of safeguarding throughout the school.
  • Support the identification of students who may benefit from mental health, wellbeing or Early Help interventions and assist with signposting and coordinating appropriate support.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of safeguarding policies, procedures and practices, ensuring that safeguarding remains central to the school's culture and ethos.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with children and young people in an educational, social care or pastoral setting.
