Blue Forge Recruitment is partnering with one of Ireland's most successful supermarket groups to find an experienced Senior Butcher for a busy shop in a growing town west of Cork City. The location is within easy driving distance of Cork City, Killarney, Co Kerry and surrounding areas. The shop is undergoing a revamp, offering a great opportunity for a skilled butcher seeking a fresh challenge and the chance to work with a reputable brand.

As a Senior Butcher you will support the day to day running of the fresh food butcher department by serving customers, maintaining exceptional hygiene standards, and helping to drive sales. Standard morning shifts with occasional late evenings, typically off on Sundays. Pay rate: €18 per hour on a full time contract.

• Prepare and cut various types of meat products, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, according to customer preferences and specifications.
• Ensure all meat products are of high quality, properly trimmed, and free from defects.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Assist customers with their meat selections and provide recommendations on cooking methods and recipes.
• Package and label meat products for display and sale.
• Maintain knowledge of current market trends and adjust product offerings accordingly.

Requirements

• Ideally a minimum of 2 3 years of experience as a butcher in a retail or supermarket setting.
• Good knowledge of different cuts of meat and their preparation methods, controlling yield and waste.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, with a fair rotation of roster.
