Job description

Following the recent internal promotion of two valued members of our Reception Team, the Directors of Exceed Learning Partnership and Governors of Hall Cross Academy are excited to offer an opportunity for two exceptional individuals to join us in our busy administration team. We are proud of our commitment to developing and retaining talented staff, and these vacancies reflect the career progression opportunities available within Hall Cross Academy and Exceed Learning Partnership.

Hall Cross Academy is part of Exceed Learning Partnership, a Multi Academy Trust which currently comprises 10 Academies, including Bentley High Street Primary School, Carr Lodge Academy, Edlington Victoria Academy, Hall Cross Academy, Hill Top Academy, Rosedale Primary School, Sandringham Primary School, Sheep Dip Lane Academy, The Mallard Academy and Willow Primary School. This is a great opportunity for an exceptional individual to join a highly successful and rapidly expanding Trust, with scope to have a significant impact and develop a career with the organisation.

Our Reception Team is at the heart of the Academy, providing a welcoming and professional service whilst supporting the day to day running of a school with over 2,000 students across two sites. You will be the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and external agencies, often managing multiple enquiries at once while ensuring everyone receives a friendly, professional and efficient service.

The role also includes providing first aid to students and staff, often reassuring young people who may be anxious or unwell. Full First Aid training will be provided if required.

Working in a large secondary school means every day is different. The ability to think on your feet, prioritise effectively and remain composed in a fast paced environment is essential.

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and external agencies.
  • Operating the Academy switchboard and responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Providing high quality administrative support across the Academy.
  • Delivering first aid to students and staff and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Supporting the smooth day to day operation of reception across both Academy sites.
About you

This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service whilst supporting the wellbeing of young people.

Previous experience in a school is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals with experience in busy customer facing environments such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, local government or office administration who have excellent organisational skills, enjoy working with people and are looking for a rewarding career.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Excellent ICT skills and confidence using a range of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Outstanding organisational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and work accurately under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional approach.
  • A calm, empathetic and reassuring manner when dealing with students, parents and visitors.
  • The confidence to use initiative and solve problems.
  • A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the wider administration team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Why work for Exceed Learning Partnership and at Hall Cross Academy?
  • Excellent career development working alongside a National Leader of Education.
  • Talented and hard working professional colleagues who are committed to children's success across the curriculum.
  • The support of being part of a successful Multi Academy Trust.
  • The most up to date research and opportunities to influence national policy.
  • Wonderful pupils and parents who support the school in all its aspirations.
  • A highly committed and supportive Governing Body.
  • An inclusive ethos in which everyone is valued and respected.
Equality, Diversity and Safeguarding

The Directors and Governors of Exceed Learning Partnership are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore requires an enhanced DBS certificate. As the role involves regulated activity, a children's barred list check is required. Short listed applicants will be required to complete a self disclosure.
