Qualified social worker - Kinship fostering

Our client Shropshire council is looking for a Qualified social worker to join their Kinship fostering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete Form K assessments to assess connected persons as foster carers.
• Undertake viability assessments to inform early permanence planning.
• Carry out SGO assessments, including support plans and court reports.
• Provide regular supervision and support to approved kinship foster carers.
• Support carers to manage placement challenges, contact arrangements, and transitions to permanence.
• Work closely with children's social workers and multi-agency partners to ensure coordinated care planning.
• Ensure all work is child-centred, evidence-based, and within statutory timescales.

About You

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Experience in:
• Kinship/connected persons fostering (Form K)
• SGO assessments and permanence planning
• Viability assessments
• Supporting and supervising foster carers
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills for court and panel.
• Confident in managing risk, safeguarding, and complex family dynamics.
• Committed to achieving stable, safe outcomes for children.
