Job Description

An initial 12-month contract for an experienced Principal Contracts Engineer to join an independent upstream oil and gas operator's supply chain function, supporting operations and logistics categories. The role is central to delivering commercial value through the full contract lifecycle, from sourcing and negotiation through to supplier performance management, ensuring compliance, governance and strong collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partnering with stakeholders across operations to understand requirements and developing category plans.
  • Managing end-to-end contracting activities, ensuring business objectives and governance requirements are met.
  • Leading competitive tendering exercises, evaluate proposals and negotiate commercial and contractual terms.
  • Drafting and finalising complex contracts, ensuring risks are understood and mitigated.
  • Overseeing supplier performance, compliance and engagement across assigned categories.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost reduction, value improvement and continuous optimisation.
  • Supporting the delivery of the annual contracts plan and other SCM initiatives.
  • Providing market insight, benchmark data and recommendations to inform sourcing strategies.
  • Resolving contractual or supplier issues, engaging with Legal or other internal experts when required.
  • Contributing to improvement projects within supply chain and providing guidance to colleagues when appropriate.
About You
  • Strong experience in contract and category management within operations or logistics.
  • Knowledge of LOGIC contracts and contract law.
  • Skilled negotiator with a record of managing complex, high-value agreements.
  • Proficient in SAP, MS Office and procurement tools such as Ivalua.
  • Degree qualified and ideally MCIPS-certified (or equivalent).
  • Collaborative, commercially focused and able to influence across all levels of the business.
