Job Description
Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

The Suffolk Perinatal Community Mental Health Team (SPCMHT) is seeking to recruit a Principal Psychologist, to job share with their existing Principal Psychologist, leading the perinatal therapies team. The SPCMHT is a county wide service working with pregnant women and those with babies up to one year old, and some women who experience pregnancy loss. We have a large therapy team offering clinical psychology, specialist CBT, EMDR, systemic and parent infant psychotherapy interventions. The post holder would oversee the therapies team, working closely with the senior leadership team to offer clinical leadership in the service. The role will have both clinical and management responsibilities.

The SPCMHT has bases in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds and works closely with local maternity services. It is part of the wider NSFT perinatal collaborative including the Norfolk Perinatal Service and the Kingfisher MBU.

The role is supported by the trust wide consultant psychologist for perinatal services.

Main duties of the job

Experiences of working with mothers and babies would be helpful for this role. In addition, awareness of trauma informed care and working with wider systems would be beneficial. We are able to support some CPD as part of your development. There is a wider group of perinatal principal psychologists within NSFT to offer peer support, and we have good relationships with other perinatal teams in the east of England region.

The role will involve travel across the county and working in a mixture of clinical bases and patient homes. Expert clinical supervision is available.

About us

NSFT provides a range of high quality perinatal mental health services across Norfolk and Suffolk and is currently the clinical lead trust for the provider collaborative. We have a well-established team in Suffolk with a well staff therapies team, with a mix of skills. This is an ideal opportunity for someone to progress to a principal psychologist role as they will be job sharing with an experienced other.
