Job Description

Start Date: May 2026Contract: Maternity cover until the substantive postholder returnsLocation: East Lancashire

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in East Lancashire to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Year 3 Teacher to cover a maternity leave from May 2026.

The school serves a diverse community with many pupils who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) and a significant number requiring SEND support. Leaders and teachers know their pupils well and place a high priority on communication, language development, and inclusive practice.

The curriculum is broad, balanced and ambitious, firmly aligned with the National Curriculum and enriched through visits, enrichment activities and extra-curricular opportunities. Teachers benefit from clear curriculum guidance and well-developed subject knowledge frameworks.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Take full class teacher responsibility for a Year 3 class
  • Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the school's curriculum
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment with high expectations for behaviour and achievement
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including EAL and SEND
  • Work collaboratively with an established, supportive staff team

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a teacher who:

  • Holds QTS (ECTs and experienced teachers welcome to apply)
  • Has recent experience in Key Stage 2 (Year 3 desirable)
  • Demonstrates strong classroom practice and positive behaviour management
  • Is reflective, organised, and committed to inclusive education
  • Brings enthusiasm, warmth and a genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing and progress
