Position Overview

Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Correlative Imaging of HIV-1 Transcription and Latency in CD4 T Cells

Division of Structural Biology, Building for Genomic Medicine, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford, OX3 7BN

Responsibilities

Manage the day to day execution of the Correlative Imaging project, including design and implementation of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, CRISPR based cell modification, and cellular imaging strategies.
Lead structural studies using SPA cryoEM, cryoET, and related techniques to characterize HIV persistence.
Supervise students and collaborate with partner organisations and research groups.
Contribute to programme development and prepare for subsequent research phases.

Qualifications

PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in structural and functional studies of viral infections, or a closely related field.
Demonstrable experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cryoEM structure determination.
Background in retroviruses and in situ structural biology, including cryoET subtomogram averaging.
Strong decision making, problem solving, and project planning skills.
Ability to lead research projects and support junior researchers.

Employment Details

Full time, fixed term contract until 31 May 2028, funded by NIH/NIAID.
Salary (£): Research Grade 7 - £39,424 - £43,984 per annum, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
