Position Overview

Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Correlative Imaging of HIV-1 Transcription and Latency in CD4 T Cells

Division of Structural Biology, Building for Genomic Medicine, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford, OX3 7BN

Responsibilities
  • Manage the day to day execution of the Correlative Imaging project, including design and implementation of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, CRISPR based cell modification, and cellular imaging strategies.
  • Lead structural studies using SPA cryoEM, cryoET, and related techniques to characterize HIV persistence.
  • Supervise students and collaborate with partner organisations and research groups.
  • Contribute to programme development and prepare for subsequent research phases.
Qualifications
  • PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in structural and functional studies of viral infections, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cryoEM structure determination.
  • Background in retroviruses and in situ structural biology, including cryoET subtomogram averaging.
  • Strong decision making, problem solving, and project planning skills.
  • Ability to lead research projects and support junior researchers.
Employment Details
  • Full time, fixed term contract until 31 May 2028, funded by NIH/NIAID.
  • Salary (£): Research Grade 7 - £39,424 - £43,984 per annum, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
