Job Description
Paint Technician - Rail Components (Engineering Environment)

Location: Barton Under Needwood (Initial 6-month training in Doncaster)

Pay Rate: £18.79 per hour (PAYE)

Contract: Ongoing / Contract

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Paint Technician to join a leading engineering team working on rail components. This role involves preparing, setting up, and applying specialist coatings within a controlled workshop environment. You will initially be based in Doncaster for approximately 6 months, before transitioning to the main site in Barton Under Needwood.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate paint spraying equipment
  • Apply 2-pack (2K) and water-based paint systems to rail components
  • Ensure high-quality finishes in line with engineering and rail industry standards
  • Carry out preparation work including masking, surface prep, and cleaning
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a safe, tidy working environment
  • Follow all health & safety procedures, particularly relating to paint application and PPE use
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Paint Technician / Industrial Sprayer within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience using 2-pack (2K) and water-based paints
  • Ability to set up spraying equipment and adjust for different applications
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Comfortable working in a workshop environment on rail or large components
  • Flexibility to work in Doncaster for the first 6 months, then relocate to Barton Under Needwood
Desirable
  • Previous experience in rolling stock, rail, or engineering environments
  • Relevant painting or coating certifications (e.g., ICAT, NVQ, or equivalent)
