DEPARTMENT: Technology Operations
LOCATION: Lincoln, with work in Sheffield
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £48,700 - £62,150 (depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience)

We are looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to support technology and systems used by our production colleagues in Lincoln and Sheffield. The role will be based in a live transmission environment and requires strong technical knowledge, problem solving skills and a solid understanding of IT systems and consumer level technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working between Lincoln and Sheffield, sharing support in Sheffield with the engineer based in York as part of the wider BBC East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire engineering team.
  • Providing on site technical support and maintaining a range of multimedia newsgathering, production, broadcast and IT equipment.
  • Maintaining broadcast vehicles and performing quarterly checks to ensure safe operation.
  • Supporting building issues and consulting with facilities management partner when required.
  • Working on a shift basis (normally 8.00-18.00, four or five days a week). The role reports to the Operations Engineering Team Leader in Hull.
  • Participating in training and development opportunities, including learning about the regional TV News operation in Hull.

Your skills and experience - key criteria:

  • Experience at broadcast engineer level.
  • Understanding of broadcast and production systems in a multi platform environment.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic and monitoring tools and techniques for troubleshooting and fault identification.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks by service impact and work calmly under pressure.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications and practical experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills for working with technical and non technical colleagues.
  • Some experience of outside broadcasts or live events.
