Job Description

MWH Treatment is currently seeking an Operations Manager for our Thames Water framework. Reporting directly to the Framework Director, you will be responsible for resource control, financial management of the framework and its projects, and ensuring targets for turnover, margin, and cash are met. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and subcontractors. The Thames regional framework involves delivering water and wastewater non-infra projects in AMP8, ranging from £3M to £70M across London & Guildford areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety and quality standards among workforce and subcontractors.
  • Develop strategies to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure consistent operational procedures within the department.
  • Allocate suitable resources to meet departmental needs.
  • Monitor performance at departmental and contract levels.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the Framework Strategy.
  • Contribute to tender finalization processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers.
  • Prepare management reports at the framework level.
  • Manage regional turnover within budget targets.
  • Ensure company procedures and quality policies are adhered to and records maintained.
  • Report and manage site non-conformities and associated costs.
  • Manage commercial aspects proactively with accurate forecasts and estimates.
  • Implement and uphold Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Possess detailed project management knowledge from conception to end-user acceptance.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and industry networking.
  • Maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach and professional image.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.

  • Regional Framework Senior Leadership & Framework Director
  • Procurement, SHEQ, Supply Chain, External Agencies, and Clients

  • Programme Managers, Project Directors/Senior Project Managers, Head of Planning, Digital Delivery Lead, Head of Preconstruction, Head of Construction, Framework Commissioning Manager

Technical Competencies: Expert in Contract Management, Governance, Budgeting, Risk Management, Project Planning, Digital Delivery, Procurement, Solutions Development, Stakeholder Management, Resource and Change Management, Quality Management.

Behavioral Competencies: Expert in Communication, Collaboration, Client Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, Coaching, Leadership.

Special Requirements: Regular travel across Thames Water London non-infra region, including sites in London and Guildford. Essential skills include working within deadlines, leading multidisciplinary teams, extensive project delivery experience, strategic and operational skills. Desirable qualifications include experience in water/wastewater treatment plants and relevant professional accreditation or degree.
