If you're the kind of person who stays calm under pressure and genuinely enjoys helping others, this is a brilliant opportunity to be the first point of contact in a busy court environment. Our Client is hiring for a reputed client where your professionalism and customer service will make a real difference-especially to those who may feel anxious or have additional needs.

What you'll be doing
  • Welcoming everyone to court, including members of the judiciary, juries, solicitors, barristers, the police and the public
  • Calling parties into court in priority order, coordinating with Court Clerks and Legal Advisers, and liaising with the Witness Service when required
  • Providing information about proceedings, escorting court users in and out of the building, and swearing oaths
  • Keeping people updated on changes (including courtrooms and hearing times)
  • Collecting and delivering files and bundles to judiciary and clerks, ensuring the necessary papers are in place
  • Supporting colleagues and judicial staff outside of hearing times, as needed
  • Assisting with court hearings, including room set-up and clearing at the end of the day
  • Arranging and supporting hearings, and assisting members of the public attending hearings
  • Navigating hearings via video link (onsite and remotely), including a potential CVP element for remote hearings
  • Completing general admin tasks such as filing, printing, data entry, typing, and handling incoming/outgoing post
  • Preparing court documents, papers and files for hearings, tribunals, trials, and meetings
What you'll bring
  • A confident, respectful approach and a strong customer service mindset-especially with vulnerable people or those with complex needs
  • The ability to manage your time and follow priority instructions in a structured environment
  • Clear communication skills when dealing with a wide range of court users
  • A practical, helpful attitude-ready to support colleagues and judges both in and out of the hearing room
  • Comfortable working in an office-based role with day-to-day administrative support (approx. 10-20% of the role, depending on business needs)
  • Computer skills needed to carry out the role, including support for remote/video hearings
  • Flexibility to work 3 days 22 hours per week (days are flexible and will be discussed at interview) and cover occasional Saturday shifts on a rota basis
Additional information
  • Enhanced DBS clearance is required and will be processed by Brook Street
  • Pay: £12.86 for 12 weeks, then £13.25
  • The role is predominantly based at Preston, with occasional travel to Blackburn and Burnley
  • Working pattern: fully office based
