About this job Advert Text for Nurse Clinician Secondment Band 7 An exciting opportunity has arisen for to join the Nurse Clinician team at Aintree University Hospital.

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Nurse who will provide professional, advanced clinical support and advice to the junior doctors and nursing staff "out of hours". Applicants must be a registered Nurse with significant experience of working within an acute hospital setting.

You should have a broad range of advanced clinical skills with specific experience in patient assessment and treatments.

Qualifications in Clinical Examination and Diagnostics at Degree or Masters level are essential.

You must feel confident in your ability to respond to and deal with a patient emergency situation as the post holder will become part of the Medical Emergency Response Team.

Good communication and leadership skills are fundamental as you will be expected to offer support and advice to nursing staff and junior doctors.

You will also coordinate the "out of hours" hand over meetings with Medical and Surgical doctors.

Accurate clinical judgement and decision-making skills are essential as the post holder will act as a first point of contact for ward staff who require advice/medical intervention from a doctor out of hours.

Provide a service within the expanded role of the nurse practitioner To act as the first point of contact for nursing staff who require clinical advice/Medical intervention for a patient "out of hours"; Providing expert clinical advice and performing advanced skills in patient assessment and stabilising patients by initiating treatment and investigations before a doctor's arrival Provide clinical input and specialist skills to all clinical areas within AUH To act as the responding nurse for the MET team out of hours responding to referrals for acutely ill patients and emergency situations throughout the hospital as part of the Trust Medical Emergency Team. Maintain ALS provider status and act as Team Coordinator at cardiac arrest and emergency calls To take responsibility for own clinical workload as appropriate, assessing and treating patients according to their individual needs.

Adopting a holistic and problem solving approach that respects people's privacy, dignity and individuality. Liaise with medical staff about the condition and treatment of patients To provide and receive complex information that requires empathy and reassurance, communicating where there may be barriers to understanding. Communicate complex and sensitive information to staff, patients and relatives including discussions around ceilings of care and DNACPR decision making Ensures patients views are sought and taken into account in the decision making process and ensure due regard is given to patients customs, values and spiritual beliefs Ensure patient records are maintained and that documentation reflects care provide To act in the best interest of the patients, ensuring a quality service is provided at all times. Respond to user requirements with flexibility and empathy, always maintaining a safe environment Managerial/Leadership To function as a resource for ward personnel providing leadership and support. Demonstrate good interpersonal/communication skills in a multidisciplinary setting To Chair and coordinate the out of hours Medical and Surgical doctors' handover meetings, ensuring they have a beneficial impact on the wellbeing and safety of patients within AUH To organise and direct the junior doctors during their on-call working hours, offering support and advice when needed. To support with the coordination of the clinical teams for the wards out of hours ensuring all wards have medical representation and there is a safe and fair allocation of wards in times of staffing shortages Clinical Governance / Quality Registered Practitioners have a responsibility to: Maintain current active professional registration Act always in accordance with their professional Code of Conduct and guiding documents Adhere to Trust Policy and Procedure. Provide information or investigates complaints/slash incidents as required.

Assists in taking appropriate action to reduce further risk or occurrence Maintain up to date skills and knowledge and maintain awareness of professional issues. Maintain NMC Revalidation requirements Education and training development In conjunction with the Senior Nurse Clinician/Deputy, participate in development reviews and agree objectives and personal development plans.
