Consultants in Obstetrics & Gynaecology Raigmore Hospital, Inverness

10 PAs per week

£111,430 - £148,064 per annum pro rata

Applications are invited for Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology,

We seek a consultant to join our team as part of our complement of fourteen Consultants, four Specialty Doctors, four Specialty Registrars and six FY2/GPST's, who will work as a co-operative, committed and capable member of our collegiate consultant team; all applicants whose specialist skills and interests will support and complement those of existing colleagues are welcomed.

Inverness is part of the North Cancer Alliance and has close links with a weekly MDT with Aberdeen, Grampian. There is an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and an Obstetric Day Unit. Specialist clinics include a joint diabetic antenatal, maternal medicine and foetal medicine clinic. For gynaecology: Fast-track gynaecology clinic, Colposcopy clinic, unintended pregnancy clinic, and an out-patient hysteroscopy service. In theatre we have one day a week robotic operating as well as daily CS list and a gynaecology list every afternoon. Robotic assisted operating training will be supported by the department if the successful applicant does not yet have this.

The Department participates in the teaching programme for medical undergraduates from Aberdeen University. Specialist trainees in the North of Scotland Deanery rotate to and from Aberdeen.

Applicants unable to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post and, if appointed, the job plan will be discussed on an individual basis. Applicants should hold CCT or CESR, or be eligible within six months of interview.

Raigmore Hospital is a modern District General Hospital with 454 beds. The department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology serves a geographically wide population from Highland. There are approximately 2,000 deliveries per year.

Inverness is the capital of The Highlands of Scotland - a most wonderful area in which to live and work. It enjoys road, rail and air links to both the north and south. The attractive surrounding countryside offers exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities.
