Multi-Skilled Engineer - Food/ FMCG

Role Overview:

Join a leading manufacturing site in York as a Multi-Skilled Engineer. You will ensure machinery operates efficiently in a high-paced food production environment, focusing on maintenance and proactive support. The role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys problem-solving and continuous improvement within a team-focused setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Carrying out planned maintenance, servicing, and repairs on production machinery.
  2. Performing fault finding, diagnostics, and root cause analysis to maximize equipment uptime.
  3. Ensuring all work complies with food safety and health & safety standards.
  4. Supporting operation and maintenance of service plants like boilers and chilled water systems.
  5. Participating in machinery installations, upgrades, and site projects.
  6. Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  7. Completing risk assessments and maintaining GMP standards.
  8. Adhering to company policies and collaborating with production teams.
Required Attributes:
  1. Recognised engineering qualifications (Electrical essential, Mechanical advantageous).
  2. Strong mechanical skills supporting electrical and mechanical maintenance.
  3. Experience in a food production environment, preferably BRCGS or retailer-accredited.
  4. Ability to work independently and in teams.
  5. Understanding of HACCP, food safety, and hygiene principles.
  6. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proactive, ownership-driven, and committed to continuous improvement.
