Mechanical Inspector (Public Sector)

VANRATH is assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for a Mechanical Inspector for 3 months initially with the possibility of extension. You will predominantly be based in their Ballymena site.

Responsibilities

• Provide an inspection service on all Natural Gas, Oil, planned and response maintenance contracts to ensure that all installations, servicing, and maintenance has been carried out in accordance with the contract documentation and the Statutory Regulations, materials and workmanship.
• Inspect and measure works completed at various stages throughout construction, including relevant certifications, updating these on the computer database and maintain detailed records. Forward a report on findings to the M&E Project Manager/Inspectorate Manager on a weekly basis.
• Maintain a daily diary monitoring site activities. Present and communicate to the Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager by email all inspection findings including Health and Safety and Welfare in a comprehensive electronic weekly report.
• Inspect works at various stages of construction and provide electronic reports on compliance with Executive Specification and Statutory Regulations, as well as workmanship and materials.
• Immediately advise the Contract Administrator/Project Manager of any non compliance including Health and Safety and Welfare that requires urgent notification, action and attention, particularly any dangerous breaches on site.
• General measurement of works as and when necessary or requested by Project Manager.
• Keep the Contract Administrator/Project Manager informed by email, phone, of any variations from the proposed works, or any aspect that could give rise to a Compensation Event.
• Accompany Clerk of Works/Contract Administrator/Project Manager during the works handover process and in a timely and accurate manner complete a weekly report and email to them for action.

Ideal person Essential Criteria

• Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a Building/Construction related discipline plus at least 1 year of relevant experience working within a Building/Construction function.
• OR BTEC Higher or equivalent Level 5 qualification in a Building/Construction related discipline plus at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• OR demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development / experiential learning and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Can demonstrate significant experience in Mechanical Installation, Inspection and Testing.
• Proficient in the use of all Microsoft packages.
• Candidates must have Gas Safe: CCN1, OFTEC: 101, NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating or equivalent level 3 qualification in Plumbing or Heating.
• Candidates must possess a current driving licence or have access to transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post.

Desirable

• Currently hold Gas Safe: CPA1, CENWAT, OFTEC: 105 & 600.

Remuneration

£32,597 - £36,363 plus Van & Fuel Card.
