Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)

Salary: €55,000+ DOE (Depending on Experience)

About the Role

An established building services consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. The successful candidate will have full working rights in Ireland, and have a MINIMUM of 3 years experience in building services design (manufacturing, automotive, oil & gas and R&D are not relevant here).

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water, and drainage.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and design drawings.
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Attend client, design, and site meetings as required.
• Support project delivery through all design stages.
• Undertake site inspections and monitor installation compliance.
• Ensure designs meet relevant regulations, standards, and sustainability objectives.
• Assist with technical problem-solving and value engineering exercises.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years' experience in building services/mechanical design engineering.
• Experience using industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services design principles.
• Knowledge of current Irish and/or UK building regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage workload across multiple projects.
