Join Our Team as a Materials Scientist

Location: Crewe (office based Monday - Friday)

Duration - Until June 2026

Salary - £35k per annum

About the Role:

In this exciting fixed-term contract position, you will work Full time in a dynamic laboratory environment. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the quality of materials and components that contribute to our exceptional products. This role requires a collaborative spirit as you will liaise with various teams across the organisation, ensuring our high standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Part Assurance: Evaluate and assess materials selection and production techniques for a range of components.
  • Materials Testing: Write and execute technical testing specifications to maintain quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of component failures, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Engage with suppliers to evaluate their material capabilities and ensure high-quality submissions.
  • Laboratory Activities: Support routine testing programmes and develop innovative solutions to enhance product quality.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field, along with relevant experience in the automotive sector as a bonus.

Skills:

- Expertise in materials testing and specification.
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment and failure analysis techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a scientific role within a lab environment is preferred. Automotive experience is a plus but not mandatory!
