Manager, Solution Architect - Insurance Operations & Domain Solutions, Technology & Transformation

As a Manager Solution Architect, you will be a key member of our Insurance Operations & Domain Solutions team, working alongside a team of Insurance specialists from across Insurance markets and will be able to quickly build upon your existing industry knowledge and consultancy skills to develop your expertise. We will be looking to you to help lead project teams and develop the talent and insight in our community.

You'll be working with a multitude of market leading teams from Deloitte to deliver value to our clients across the full delivery lifecycle starting from strategy and proposition definition to detailed operations and tech design, and being part of engineering and implementation teams to deliver for our clients. As a Manager Solution Architect within Deloitte's Insurance practice, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering innovative technology solutions that transform insurance operations. Collaborating with business stakeholders, you'll translate needs into detailed technical solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards. Your expertise in insurance technology and emerging trends will be crucial in driving innovation and delivering impactful results for our clients.

The specific roles and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

• Support the design and architecture of technology solutions that optimise and transform insurance operations across the value chain (e.g., Underwriting, Policy Administration, Claims).
• Support technical design governance, solution quality assurance and design reviews to keep complex technology programmes on track against industry good practice and standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and Business Architects to translate business requirements and future-state architectures into detailed technical solutions.
• Contribute to the definition and documentation of solution architectures, including infrastructure, applications, data, and integration points, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and security standards.
• Contribute to the development of architectural artefacts, such as high-level design documents, reference architectures, functional or technical design specifications and integration designs.
• Support the evaluation and selection of appropriate technologies and platforms to meet business needs, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in areas such as cloud computing, AI/ML, automation, and data analytics, to identify opportunities for innovation within insurance operations.
• Contribute to the growth of the practice's thought leadership by developing insightful content and perspectives on emerging trends in insurance operations and transformation.
• Champion diversity and inclusion within the team and contribute to broader practice development initiatives.
• Contribute to business development work such as pre-sales, bid preparation and client presentations.
• Participate in internal Deloitte practice development activities to assist the growth of the insurance practice and the Industry Solutions division including supporting the firm's commitment to creating a more diverse and inclusive culture.
• Be open to continuing education in keeping oneself updated on the latest skill sets & certifications.

Professional experience needs to include:

• Experience as a Solution Architect with a strong track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions within the insurance industry or a related financial services sector.
• Good understanding of insurance operations and the technology landscape supporting these functions.
• Expertise in designing and integrating solutions across various technology domains, including cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), data management, APIs, microservices, and security.
• Analyse and define solution options and broker buy-in, gather consensus and drive decision making from business and IT stakeholders.
• Work and collaborate with third party vendors for designing solutions and ability to manage vendor relationships.
• Support clients with identification of leading vendors for package solutions, defining RFI/RFP frameworks across Underwriting, Policy Administration and Claims.
• Assessment of existing application estate and provide remediations including definition of technology roadmap underpinned by overall technology vision.
• Good understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps) and experience working with both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.

Preferably you will also have:

• Experience in implementing AI-driven solution within the general insurance lifecycle (e.g., claims automation, fraud detection, risk assessment, etc.) is highly desirable.
