Why CNOOC International: At CNOOC International, we take pride in our corporate culture. From East to West, we foster an ethical, responsible and safety first mindset to build trust among our stakeholders.

We operate the Buzzard, Golden Eagle and Scott platforms in the North Sea where our business strategy is to maximise the value of our existing portfolio whilst at the same time also creating opportunities for global growth.
The Role: The Maintenance Performance Lead is responsible for driving consistent and effective maintenance execution while improving asset reliability across the organisation. Based in the Aberdeen office and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the role plays a key part in ensuring maintenance activities are delivered in line with established processes, standards, and performance expectations.
The position has overall responsibility for the maintenance management system (SAP PM), ensuring data integrity, process compliance, and the effective application of best practices across all assets. It oversees the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of maintenance performance metrics, providing clear insights to support operational and strategic decision making.
Applying reliability engineering principles, the Maintenance Performance Lead identifies trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement. The role works to optimise maintenance strategies, reduce equipment failures, and enhance asset availability and operational efficiency.
Working collaboratively with asset and functional teams, the role supports capability development, promotes knowledge sharing, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Through effective performance management and the use of data driven insights, the Maintenance Performance Lead helps strengthen overall maintenance effectiveness and long term asset performance.
What you will bring: The Maintenance Performance Lead is accountable for the governance and continuous improvement of the Maintenance Execution Management System, ensuring maintenance processes, standards, and procedures are clearly defined, maintained, and consistently applied across all assets. Acting as the functional owner of SAP PM, the role is responsible for system governance, configuration oversight, data integrity, equipment hierarchy management, and work order control, ensuring the maintenance management system supports safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance delivery.
The role provides maintenance performance assurance through the development, monitoring, and reporting of key maintenance performance indicators, including backlog management, schedule adherence, preventive maintenance compliance, work execution quality, and overall maintenance effectiveness. Through regular reviews, audits, and assurance activities, the Maintenance Performance Lead evaluates maintenance execution performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and ensures alignment with maintenance management standards and expectations. The role also facilitates monthly, quarterly, and annual performance review meetings, ensuring lessons learned, performance outcomes, and improvement actions are effectively captured and embedded into future management system enhancements.
A core responsibility of the position is to drive reliability and asset performance improvement through the application of reliability engineering principles. This includes leading the analysis of equipment failures, production losses, recurring equipment issues, and reliability trends, using techniques such as root cause analysis and defect elimination to prevent recurrence and improve long term asset performance. The role ensures failure data is effectively captured and analysed, leads cross functional reliability reviews, and supports the optimisation of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies based on equipment criticality, operational experience, and risk.
Working closely with asset teams, planners, schedulers, discipline engineers, and operational stakeholders, the Maintenance Performance Lead promotes maintenance readiness, efficient work execution, and improved equipment reliability and uptime. The role provides input to the five year maintenance reference plan, supports maintenance and reliability decision making through data driven insights, and manages the close out of actions arising from audits, reviews, investigations, and assurance activities to ensure sustainable improvements are delivered.
The position is also responsible for overseeing and maximising the value of reliability and performance related technologies. This includes ownership of the condition monitoring contract and supporting the implementation and use of digital tools, predictive analytics, and condition based maintenance technologies that enhance asset performance and reliability. In addition, the role champions best practice use of SAP PM through coaching, training, and user support, helping to strengthen maintenance capability and drive consistent system utilisation across the organisation.
The Maintenance Performance Lead supports contractor performance management in relation to maintenance execution and reliability activities, ensuring compliance with agreed processes, data quality requirements, and performance expectations. The role promotes a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence while ensuring all maintenance and reliability activities are conducted in compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and HSE requirements.
Who are we looking for: You will hold an engineering qualification in a relevant discipline and have significant experience in maintenance execution, reliability, and asset performance management within a comparable industrial environment. Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the oil and gas sector, is essential, together with a strong understanding of the challenges associated with maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of maintenance and reliability management processes, including the effective use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM. You will possess a sound understanding of maintenance planning and execution, reliability engineering principles, Lean maintenance methodologies, and the management of maintenance budgets and resource planning. The ability to translate operational and reliability data into practical improvement opportunities will be a key requirement of the role.
Candidates should have a proven track record of identifying performance issues, evaluating options, and developing innovative, technically sound solutions that deliver measurable improvements in equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational performance. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, combined with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive continuous improvement initiatives, are essential.
The role requires a high level of digital and technical proficiency, with experience using SAP PM and other maintenance or engineering systems, alongside advanced competence in Microsoft Office applications. The ability to work effectively with data, reporting tools, and asset management technologies to support performance monitoring and decision making will be critical to success in the position.
CNOOC and You: In this role, you can participate in our Compressed Work Schedule (CWS), which offers two Fridays off per month in exchange for an additional 45 minutes of work each day. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the office from Monday to Thursday, and from home on a Friday, when not on a CWS day. Additionally, we provide free lunches for all employees.
In return for your dedication, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package that acknowledges your contributions. Our standard benefits include competitive healthcare and dental coverage, company paid life insurance and accident coverage, generous vacation time, and a competitive company pension plan with a substantial match and company contribution. We also provide a complimentary annual health check.
We are committed to our deliverables, but we also know how to have fun. We host several wellness challenges each year to support mental, physical, financial, and social health. Our team members also engage in community support through financial contributions and volunteer initiatives.
