This post is suitable for doctors looking to work at middle-grade level in the Emergency Department. We will actively support all clinicians to achieve competencies in the RCEM curriculum and completion of the FRCEM examinations.
Candidates applying for this post must have a minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience in emergency medicine (EM).
An educational supervisor will be allocated to each successful candidate from the consultant team who will help to identify learning needs, develop a personal development plan and provide guidance on career development. Regular meetings with their educational supervisors will be set up to ensure adequate progression.
The use of e-portfolio will aid documentation of progression. Regular consultant led teaching will be provided. There will also be opportunities to develop own personal interests.
Main duties of the jobGeneral

Ensure mandatory training is completed and up to date
Adhere to trust policies and procedures
To comply with the guidance from the General Medical Council (GMC) on Good Medical Practice
To ensure you have a valid GMC registration & Validation status
Clinical
Deliver high quality care to the patients presenting to the ED.
To manage patients admitted to the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU).
Supervise and support all staff, medical and nursing within the ED on the shop floor.
Ensure all life support courses and qualifications are up to date and valid, including Advanced Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or equivalent, Advanced Trauma Life Support or equivalent.
Ensure safeguarding level 3 is completed and up to date.

Job responsibilitiesComplete the Primary/Intermediate FRCEM examinations.
Participate in formal and informal teaching of all staff and students; this will include junior doctors, ACP, ENP, nurses, medical and nursing students.
Attend and participate in the weekly senior staff educational meeting.
Attend monthly-protected teaching sessions for the middle-grade tier clinicians.
Engage with Continuous Professional Development and annual appraisal process

- At least 12 months previous experience in Emergency Medicine post
- Demonstrates competence in management of full range of Emergency Medicine presentations
- Medical Degree from a recognised University
- At least 3 years previous experience in Emergency Medicine post
- Demonstrates competence in management of full range of Emergency Medicine presentations
- ALS provider
- ATLS/ETC provider

- Completion of ST3 EM

- Level 1 USS competent
