Position: Lead Subsea Engineer
Rotation: 6 months in Pau (France) and then rotational 28/28 in Maputo (Mozambique)
Start: July 2025
Contract: 1 year renewable
Airswift is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading international energy operator for a high-profile deepwater development project in Mozambique.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Subsea Engineer (Subsea Superintendent) to take on a leadership role in one of the most ambitious LNG developments in Africa, supporting both the preparation and execution phases of complex offshore drilling operations.
Working in a technically demanding, fast-paced offshore environment, you will play a key leadership role across both the preparation and execution phases of the campaign. You will be the primary point of contact for all subsea contractors, ensuring seamless coordination, equipment readiness, and safe, efficient offshore operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and supervise all subsea operations and contractors during well construction and intervention activities.
- Oversee the testing, deployment, and functionality of subsea equipment and emergency response systems.
- Prepare detailed subsea programs, risk assessments, and contingency plans.
- Manage subsea-related procurement: coordinate CFTs, raise COs/POs, and oversee QA/QC for equipment.
- Provide technical support for rig-based and open water subsea operations, including well interventions.
- Champion HSE performance and continuous improvement on site.
- Collaborate closely with Drilling & Completion Superintendents and cross-functional teams.
- 15+ years' experience in Drilling & Wells, with a focus on subsea engineering and offshore field development.
- Proven experience as a Subsea Superintendent or Subsea Engineer in deepwater operations.
- Familiarity with TechnipFMC enhanced vertical subsea systems is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise in subsea well equipment, testing, and operational execution.
- Valid IWCF Well Control.
- Valid BOSIET.
- TBOP and CoC certifications are appreciated.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and contractor management skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working in high-pressure offshore environments.
- Excellent communication in English and ability to thrive in a multicultural team.
