Job Description

Here at Human Appeal, we have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Website Developer to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The role will be worked on a full-time schedule from the office or negotiable. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed-term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,050 - £37,950 per annum depending on experience.

Role Overview

The Junior Website Developer will support and develop new features for Human Appeal's regional websites. Responsibilities include frontend and backend coding, guiding UX and wireframes, dev-ops, automation testing, content management support, and monthly maintenance tasks. The goal is to keep our websites engaging and high-performing to increase online revenue and donor engagement.

Key Duties
  1. Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code following QA guidelines.
  2. Follow the website release process for deploying updates.
  3. Support the delivery of frontend and backend features.
  4. Contribute to design and wireframe reviews.
  5. Assist with the evolution of the websites using latest technologies and methods.
  6. Test new developments on UAT environment monthly.
  7. Support performance, SEO, and security testing.
  8. Provide daily support to the websites, prioritizing critical tickets.
  9. Update the Website Development Asana project daily.
  10. Assist with SEO work in collaboration with the Communications Team.
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, boot camp graduate, or self-taught with relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of commercial experience with a project portfolio.
  • Front-end development experience.
  • Skills in MS Office, CMS support (Umbraco preferred), HTML5/CSS (SASS), responsive design, RESTful APIs (preferred), SEO practices, version control (GitHub, Bitbucket), and back-end logic (C# preferred).
  • Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Passion for the international development sector.
