Junior Clinical Fellow - Urology

The post holder will be expected to provide SHO grade cover on a rotational shift basis throughout Urology. They will participate in the on call SHO rota and supervise FY1s in service delivery, inpatients, and day services. The post holder will provide a rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4 hour trolley wait target, and during the on call shift will be available solely for emergency duties.
Responsibilities- Provide SHO cover on a rotational shift basis in Urology.
- Supervise FY1s in service delivery, outpatients, inpatients, and day services.
- Provide rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4 hour trolley wait target (available solely for emergency duties during on call shift).
- Undertake outpatient clinics and operating theatre lists as directed by consultants.
- Participate in the Clinical Governance and Risk Assessment process.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team.
- Take part in the care of patients attending the department, including examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment.
- Liaise with staff of other departments.
- Maintain legible records.
- Assist in audit of various aspects under the direction of the Audit Lead.
- Recognise own limitations and seek advice from consultants.
- Perform related duties as required, including additional duties arising from occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances and duties essential for continuity of patient care.
- Other duties as directed by Consultant in Charge.
- IT skills essential to support electronic management of patient pathways.
- Department encourages all junior doctors to be involved in development of guidelines in partnership with other team members.
- MBBS or equivalent/MRCS.
- Full UK GMC registration and license to practice.
- Able to prioritise clinical need.
- Able to discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand.
- Competent in assessing and managing common urological conditions.
- Understanding the structure and functional principles of the NHS.
- Previous experience in Urology.
- Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) will be made to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary£52,656 a year (per annum) + London weighting.
