IT Business Analyst (Defence)

Salary: £43,985 to £54,083 per annum (experience dependent)
Location: Bristol based - largely on site with limited hybrid working
Security clearance: You must be at least SC Cleared, willing and eligible to obtain DV clearance, or currently hold DV clearance due to the nature of the work.

Summary:We're seeking an IT Business Analyst to join our team and take responsibility for our defence-related IT Business Analysis projects. This is a new role supporting our expanding organisation, offering an exciting opportunity as we develop our IT services & operations, particularly within our emerging defence portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead development and elaboration of compelling Business Cases and detailed requirements documentation for complex programmes and projects.
- Ensure project benefits are clearly identified, mapped, and monitored throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and propose continuous improvement opportunities to Business Analysis policies or procedures.
- Provide IT Governance assurance for non-functional requirements in Statements of Requirements and similar documents, ensuring projects and procurements adhere to these.
- Apply business analysis tools and techniques to devise options and solutions for complex business problems, considering relevant policies, legislation, and regulations.
- Ensure project solutions meet key stakeholder requirements and document any process changes resulting from projects.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project and programme team BAs for successful delivery.
- Engage with project sponsors throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure requirements are met and scope remains controlled.
We prioritize applicants with backgrounds in defence, engineering, or manufacturing industries. Essential experience includes:
- Proven track record as an IT Business Analyst, with relevant projects in IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, or IT service delivery.
- Security clearance: SC minimum, with willingness to undertake DV clearance.
- Understanding of Waterfall and Agile methodologies (mainly Waterfall).
- Strong stakeholder, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and process review skills, with knowledge of business analysis and system development methodologies.
- Desirable: Relevant professional IT qualifications such as BCS BA Practitioner, Six Sigma Black Belt, or an IT degree. However, experience is also highly valued.
