About the role

NFU Mutual are currently recruiting for a permanent IT Applications Team Leader for their Customer Correspondence and Document application team. The responsibilities include leading, influencing, a team of professional and outsourced print and document storage teams. The teams are responsible for developing delivering and maintaining IT correspondence solutions for internal NFU Mutual stakeholders, whilst adhering to the ITIL processes, software development lifecycle (SDLC) within a regulatory framework.

The successful candidate will lead two software delivery teams, ensuring the effective development, maintenance, and support of IT correspondence applications. This includes managing outsourced infrastructure and working closely with a strategic third-party provider and the Scrum Master to deliver both project-based and business-as-usual (BAU) work into the production environment. With strong stakeholder management skills to build strong relationships with other IT teams, Vendor Management and our external partners.

Working with the Application Delivery Manager, you will Lead, mentor, and support the teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture. Managing the team's workloads, priorities, and resource allocation to projects and BAU activities to ensure efficient service delivery. Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development of the team.

You'll plan, review, implement and evaluate activities within area of responsibility in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders that are aligned to agreed resources and Group IT processes, SLAs, KPIs and/or objectives and be able to identify, manage, challenge, report and evaluate risks, trends and issues in Group IT to facilitate solutions, promote innovation and continuous improvement in line with Group Risk Strategy frameworks.

About you

You will be technically proficient and solution-oriented, with strong hands-on experience in IT services who can troubleshoot complex issues and drive the team to deliver improvements.

A natural leader and team motivator, who can lead by example, support and develop their team, manage priorities effectively, and foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.

You will have a service focus with strong communication skills, who understands the importance of reliable service delivery, can engage confidently with stakeholders, manage expectations, and translate technical concepts into clear business language.

Additionally, we will be looking for you to be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Proven experience in IT team leadership or service management roles (essential)
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills (essential)
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and service delivery principles (essential)
  • Experience working on applications within the Insurance, investments and pensions environment (highly desirable)
  • Experience with document management solutions (highly desirable)
