Job Overview

Interim Payroll Manager - College, Hull, United Kingdom.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (pro rata). Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm. Start date: 15th July. Contract: Interim (8 weeks initially, with potential for extension).

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to provide short term cover within a busy college environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end to end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Oversee payroll administration, including statutory deductions and pension contributions.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation and payroll best practice.
  • Resolve payroll queries from employees promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and produce relevant reports.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll information is up to date.
Requirements
  • Previous experience managing payroll, ideally within an education or public sector setting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to starting.
