Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Ingres Database Developer to support a public sector organization in maintaining and enhancing its Legacy database systems. This role is fully remote and ideal for a contractor with deep expertise in Ingres DB administration and development, who thrives in structured environments and understands the nuances of public sector operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Ingres database environments (production and test)
• Perform database tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain scripts for automation, backup, and recovery
• Support data migration and upgrade projects
• Collaborate with DevOps teams using tools like Azure DevOps or SSCM
• Provide DBA support for releases and change management
• Document standard operating procedures and maintain system documentation
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and project teams
• Ensure compliance with public sector security and data governance standards

Required Skills & Experience

• 3 + years of experience with Ingres DB development and administration
• Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and performance tuning
• Experience in Scripting and scheduling jobs
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and documentation abilities
• Prior experience in public sector or regulated environments preferred
• Availability for occasional out-of-hours support if required
