The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, hybrid and office working is also available.

Warwick District Council's Contract Services team is seeking a proactive and dedicated Area Contract Officer to help ensure the effective delivery of our key environmental services.

In this role, you will work closely with colleagues to performance manage major council contracts covering waste services, street cleansing and building cleaning, helping to maintain and enhance the environmental quality of our district. The roleplays a vital part in making Warwick District a great place to live, work and visit by ensuring frontline services are delivered to a high standard.

Main responsibilities
  • Monitor and report on contractor performance across Waste Services, Street Cleansing and Building Cleaning, ensuring compliance with all contract specifications.
  • Carry out routine performance monitoring, producing reports and working with contractors and the Contract Operations & Performance Lead to address any issues.
  • Investigate and respond to service requests, stakeholder enquiries and complaints, liaising with residents, elected members, contractors, internal teams and external agencies.
  • Monitor and report on local environmental quality, addressing issues related to street cleanliness, graffiti, fly posting and abandoned vehicles to help maintain high district wide standards.

You will be self motivated, organised and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. You'll also bring:

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience working with contractors, including contract management and negotiation
  • A solid understanding of waste collection and cleansing legislation

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis. It involves regular on site work and occasional attendance at council offices or locations across Warwick District. There may be times when you are required to work outside standard office hours, including weekends.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Overview of team

The Contract Services Team plays a key role in maintaining a clean, attractive and safe environment across Warwick District. The team manages the Council's major frontline environmental services contracts - including waste collection, street cleansing and building cleaning - ensuring they are delivered efficiently, sustainably and to a high standard.

Alongside contract management, the team leads on waste and environmental education and enforcement activities, working with residents, businesses, communities and partners to promote positive environmental behaviour. From tackling littering and waste issues to supporting community clean up initiatives, the team helps keep the district clean, tidy and welcoming for everyone who lives, works or visits here.
