HR & Training Assistant - £34,000 - 15 Month FTC - Thatcham -

Hybrid 3 Days Office 2 Home

About the Client

Our client is an established Construction organisation employing around 200 people and operating across multiple locations. With a close-knit HR function supporting the wider business, this is a great opportunity to join an environment where you can build strong relationships, take ownership and enjoy plenty of variety. Working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am-4.00pm. Due to location a car is required.

About the Job

This is a varied HR & Training Assistant position covering the full employee lifecycle, combining hands-on HR administration and employee relations with responsibility for coordinating and delivering training. Initially working alongside the existing HR & Training Assistant during a thorough handover period, you will then take greater ownership of the role during their maternity leave, reporting into the HR Manager.

  • Provide day-to-day HR and administrative support across the organisation.
  • Support managers with first-line employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, absence and performance.
  • Coordinate onboarding and inductions for new starters.
  • Deliver internal training and coordinate the wider training calendar.
  • Maintain employee records, HR systems, timesheets and documentation.
  • Support recruitment, including interview coordination and new starter administration.
  • Advise employees and managers on HR policies and general queries.
  • Keep HR policies and processes accurate and up to date.
  • Support health & safety administration, including PPE requirements.
  • Prepare HR correspondence and reports, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Build strong relationships with employees and managers across multiple sites.
  • Assist with wider HR projects and office activities as required.

About the Successful Applicant

You will have around 3-4 years' generalist HR experience and, importantly, previous experience delivering or facilitating training. You'll be confident supporting first-line employee relations matters, highly organised and comfortable in an administration-heavy role. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport are essential. CIPD Level 3 would be advantageous, alongside a full UK driving licence for occasional site travel.

What You Will Receive in Return

You'll also benefit from a friendly, supportive environment and a varied role offering broad exposure across HR, employee relations and training.
