Head of Fundraising and Communications

This is an exciting leadership role in Plan International Ireland that brings together major elements of the Fundraising, Communications and Supporter Care roles. The Head of Fundraising and Communications will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of our three-year fundraising strategy, Individual Giving Programme and diversification of our giving portfolio.
The Head of Fundraising and Communications will be responsible for the development of Plan's relationship with the public in Ireland to ensure growing levels of financial and non-financial support.
The successful candidate will be a critical member of the Plan International Ireland Senior Management Team.
Key Duties and ActivitiesTo lead Plan International Ireland's Fundraising and Communications ensuring consistency and coherence in Plan's engagement with the public.
To lead a team of high-quality personnel in pursuit of the organisation's global purpose of striving for a just world that advances children's rights and equality for girls.
To work with, and support staff responsible for Individual Giving, Fundraising and Communications in Plan International Ireland to ensure these services are delivered optimally in line with the Strategic Plan.
To promote organisational coherence and synergies for these functions and with , optimising key digital assets while ensuring they are a competitive strategic resource for Plan International Ireland.
To develop and implement a fundraising strategy for Plan International which attracts new supporters and drives income for Plan to deliver impact in its programmes.
To work closely with the Programme Department to raise funds from the public, corporates, trusts and foundations to enable Plan to implement quality programmes and to support advocacy on key issues identified by Plan.
To work across the organisation to develop and implement a strategy to increase the profile of Plan which delivers public engagement, the organisation's programme work, its advocacy priorities and its fundraising strategy.
To lead and develop a strong brand for Plan International Ireland in line with the Global Plan International brand guidance.
To be a key spokesperson for Plan International Ireland, advocating for the rights of children, especially girls, and key Plan International campaigns in the media and other fora.
To engage and contribute as an active member part of the Senior Leadership Team to leverage organisational synergies in working towards the achievement of the organisational Strategic Plan.
To engage as appropriate with the wider Plan International Federation, working with International Headquarters, National Offices, and Country Offices to help plan deliver its mission.
To work closely with the Marketing and Fundraising Committee of the Board of Directors, reporting on progress against agreed KPIs. To assist the CEO in ensuring accountability to the Board of Directors through the production of reports, presentations and attendance and participation at board meetings.

Terms and ConditionsIn addition to salary, Plan International Ireland provides a number of employee benefits, some of which include:
- Private Health Insurance for all employees (from commencement date)
- Matching company pension contributions up to 5% (once probation is complete)
- Flexible working hours (core hours of 10am to 4pm daily, minimum of 37 hours per week)
- Commitment to training and development.
- 25 days annual leave, increasing with length of service up to 30 days.
Strong leadership skills. The role requires a track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and its fundraising / marketing / communications.
Excellent fundraising experience. Knowledge of the fundraising environment in Ireland and of a range techniques and disciplines which will support the cost-effective generation of income for Plan International Ireland.
Strong communications and networking skills. The role requires co-ordination with a diverse number of stakeholders, both internal and external. S/he will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to adapt messages to meet diverse audiences.
Excellent management and organisational skills. The role requires an ability to manage a small team, plan well and deliver on objectives in a timely way.
Proven learning, creativity and innovation ability. The role requires someone who is willing to seek out, develop and successfully implement new ideas, or adopt proven approaches that support the delivery of quality programmes.
Ability to influence, advocate and profile our work. S/he must be willing to engage with others inside and outside the organisation to promote our child rights and equality for girls agendas, and profile the work of Plan International Ireland.
A team player who is willing to adapt to change. S/he will be willing to respond positively and constructively to change, and play an active role in Plan International Ireland's team.
