Job Description
- Manage and oversee the preparation of accurate financial reports and statements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial standards.
- Lead the development and implementation of robust internal control systems.
- Collaborate with other departments to support strategic decision-making processes.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional growth.
- Monitor budgets and forecasts to maintain financial sustainability.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and stakeholders.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Head of Accounting should have:
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACMA).
- Experience in financial reporting and compliance within the not-for-profit sector.
- A strong understanding of internal controls and risk management.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team effectively.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
