Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant - Full-Time, Long-Term North Manchester

Aspire People are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in North Manchester, supporting pupils within the school's dedicated SEN Hub.

This is a full-time, long-term position, with the potential to become temp-to-perm for the right candidate. The school is keen to interview as soon as possible, with a view to the successful candidate starting ASAP.

The Role
  • Full-time, long-term SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting pupils within the school's SEN Hub
  • Working within a mainstream secondary school environment
  • Providing tailored support to pupils with additional needs
  • Working closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team
  • Opportunity for a permanent position for the right candidate
Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in graduates who have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, or experience within an educational setting.

  • SEN Teaching Assistant or classroom experience
  • Tutoring or mentoring
  • University placements within education or support settings
  • Previous employment working with children or young people
  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs

A degree in Psychology, Education, or another subject relevant to the secondary school curriculum would be highly desirable.

Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children/young people or within education
  • Genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEN
  • A relevant degree or strong educational background
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • DBS on the Update Service is highly desirable, allowing you to potentially start ASAP
  • References covering the last 2 years, including academic and employment references where applicable
  • Employment references should cover your most recent regulated activity/role involving working with children
