Job Description

Salary: Starting Salary is £36,363 (Level one) rising to £39,152 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full time
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

We are looking for a Governance Officer to join our team, ideally with experience of working in a local authority democratic services environment and with knowledge of, or the ability to learn the law and procedures governing the conduct of meetings, council constitutions and school appeals; and the confidence to put that knowledge into practice. Knowledge and experience in using the Modern.Gov committee management system would be desirable but is not essential. We will consider candidates with relevant transferable skills, and training will be provided for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, councillors and partners, including dealing with the sensitivity of issues within a political environment so that they are able to act as a credible adviser to all councillors. We are a busy team working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritise and organise their own workload in the context of tight deadlines and frequently changing tasks is essential.

The majority of meetings are held during the day at the Council's offices in Nottingham City Centre and attendance in the office for team collaboration is required at least one day per week. Working from home is supported on other days/times. Occasional travel to meetings in other locations may be required and the ability to drive with access to a car is desirable.

This post is politically restricted.
