We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Global Supply Chain to lead the strategic development and operational delivery of our global procurement, supply chain and logistics functions. Reporting to the Global Operations Director, this high-profile leadership role will shape and execute a global supply chain strategy that drives service excellence, inventory optimisation, supplier performance, operational resilience and cost competitiveness across our UK, US and APAC operations. Working closely with senior leaders across the business, this role will play a key part in supporting our continued growth, transformation and operational excellence journey.
What You'll Be Doing- Define and deliver the vision, strategy and direction for the global supply chain function.
- Lead procurement, planning, inventory and logistics activities across multiple global locations.
- Standardise supply chain processes and best practices across sites wherever possible, driving efficiency and consistency.
- Build and develop a high-performing, empowered global team with a strong culture of continuous improvement.
- Champion Lean, Six Sigma and Operational Excellence principles throughout the organisation.
- Lead the global Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring robust decision-making and effective demand planning.
- Drive improvements in supplier performance, service levels, quality and cost competitiveness.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, including the negotiation of key commercial agreements.
- Oversee global inventory performance, balancing customer demand, operational requirements and financial objectives.
- Conduct supplier risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to strengthen supply chain resilience.
- Deliver measurable improvements in service, working capital, inventory controls and operational performance.
- Collaborate across the Spectris Group to leverage purchasing opportunities and maximise value from global spend.
- Lead, coach and develop direct reports, creating clear development and succession plans.
We're looking for an experienced supply chain professional who combines strong commercial acumen with extensive supply chain expertise and a passion for developing people.
Essential Skills & Experience- Significant leadership experience within a global supply chain environment in manufacturing, engineering, instrumentation or industrial technology sectors.
- Proven experience leading multi-site and international supply chain teams.
- Demonstrable success delivering improvements in service, inventory optimisation, cost reduction and supply chain resilience.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, materials management, demand planning, logistics and inventory control.
- Experience leading Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills, including managing complex supplier agreements.
- Experience driving business transformation and change management initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to translate data into strategic decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior leaders.
- Experience working within ERP environments such as SAP or equivalent enterprise systems.
Essential Qualifications Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Professional supply chain qualification such as CIPS, APICS/ASCM, ISM or equivalent experience.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications- Experience within highly regulated or technically complex manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of supplier risk management and sustainability programmes.
- Experience implementing digital supply chain technologies and advanced planning solutions.
- Lean, Six Sigma or Operational Excellence leadership experience.
- MBA or Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- MCIPS qualification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or equivalent.
- Chartered professional membership relevant to operations or supply chain management.
