Freelance Military Training Instructor

Learning Curve Group (LCG) offers unique training across military academies in England and Wales. We provide vocational qualifications, employability skills, and support learners to pursue careers in the British Armed Forces.

Role Overview

As a Military Training Instructor, you will deliver engaging lessons and support learners through the L2 qualification. Your lessons will be well planned, motivating, and focused on achieving learners' potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver detailed lessons that challenge learners.
  • Keep subject knowledge up to date by attending training camps, assess events, and other professional development activities.
  • Use assessment to inform learners' progress and provide timely support.
  • Monitor learning effectiveness and offer directed support.
  • Prepare demanding lessons to realise learners' potential.
  • Deliver lessons covering both physical and emotional well being.
  • Use resources that reflect learner diversity.
  • Identify and support learners falling behind.
  • Set challenging individual targets.
  • Support developmental areas such as Maths/English.
  • Maintain work experience records via the FCA system.
  • Assist with learner induction and centre management.
  • Keep the MIS updated with learner details and performance data.
  • Conduct progress reviews.
  • Deliver physical training using the bib system and military training days following the portfolio scheme.
  • Listen to learner and parent feedback to improve teaching.
  • Attend regular professional development training.
  • Provide support, advice, and guidance to learners and colleagues.
  • Act in line with LCG values, expected behaviours, and diversity policies.
  • Comply with safeguarding, prevent, health and safety policies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years working within a uniformed service (army, navy, air force). - Optional if you're enthusiastic.
  • Military or civilian Physical Training qualification.
  • Teaching qualification or experience instructing young people.
  • Knowledge of vocational qualifications or the education sector.
  • GCSE Maths and English - desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with young people.
