We are seeking a Fraud Strategy Lead to join our mission of making money work better for millions of customers. You will be responsible for protecting our customers and Zopa from fraud while ensuring a seamless, human experience.
Your role involves leading our fraud prevention strategy across all our products - from current accounts and loans to savings, credit cards, and car finance, via our mobile banking app and web platform. This is your opportunity to shape how a modern bank approaches and combats fraud in a digital world.
As our Fraud Strategy Lead, you will work closely with our Director of Fraud to develop and implement our fraud defense strategies, safeguarding our customers and enabling business growth.
A day in the life:
- Strategic Leadership: Design and implement effective fraud prevention strategies that safeguard our customers and Zopa, maintaining a balance between security and a seamless customer experience.
- Develop and maintain our fraud risk framework, ensuring compliance within our fraud budget while supporting growth.
- Serve as Zopa's fraud expert, advising on emerging trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
- Support new product and process rollouts with fraud prevention measures.
- Cross-functional Impact: Collaborate with Product, Tech, Operations, and Risk teams to embed fraud prevention into all developments.
- Translate fraud insights into actionable strategies, leveraging data to enhance controls and identify opportunities.
- Build industry partnerships to stay at the forefront of fraud prevention.
- Hands-on Delivery: Analyze fraud performance across products, identify risks, and implement improvements.
- Conduct root cause analyses to detect emerging threats and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop roadmaps for control enhancements and oversee their implementation.
- Ensure compliance with current and future regulatory requirements, including accurate reporting.
About you:
- You are an expert in fraud prevention, passionate about solving complex problems and turning challenges into opportunities. You combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- You have a proven track record in defining and executing fraud prevention strategies across various fraud types, including first-party, third-party, and account takeover fraud.
- Experience in financial services or consulting, with deep expertise in fraud detection and prevention, is essential.
- You possess strong analytical skills, capable of deriving insights from data and communicating effectively with diverse audiences.
- You excel in stakeholder management, balancing priorities and managing expectations under pressure.
- You enjoy working collaboratively across teams to solve complex problems.
- You can translate technical fraud concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- You have experience optimizing operational processes to improve fraud frameworks.
- You are passionate about protecting customers while providing excellent experiences.
We're on the move!
By the end of 2025, Zopa will relocate to a new headquarters at 20 Water Street, Canary Wharf. The 44,000 sq ft workspace will foster collaboration and inspire creativity for our 900 employees during our growth phase.
Flexible working:
We value face-to-face collaboration and work-life balance. This hybrid role requires coming to the London office 2-3 days a week. You may also work from abroad up to 120 days a year, subject to legal right to work in the country of choice. We will support you in thriving both professionally and personally from day one.
