Joining our South West team as a Family Time Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting children of all ages in the care of Hampshire County Council. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment that enables meaningful family time, sensitively observing contact sessions, maintaining detailed records and preparing clear, professional reports that may contribute to court proceedings. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference and help improve outcomes for children and families.
What you'll do:

- Manage challenging situations, including stopping contact when it is not in the child's best interest, while maintaining a child-focused approach.
- Prepare for and document contacts accurately within agreed timescales, adhering to legal and policy requirements.
- Build effective relationships with parents, social workers, foster carers, and children, while demonstrating safeguarding awareness and reporting concerns promptly.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, attending meetings, training, and complying with all relevant guidelines, legislation, and Hampshire County Council policies.
What we're looking for:
- Experience & Knowledge: Proven experience working with children and families in need, with strong understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent IT, verbal communication, listening, and observation skills; ability to build effective relationships with children, carers, and professionals.
- Professional Attributes: Capacity to handle challenging situations, remain professional and non-judgemental and work flexibly.
- Decision-Making & Initiative: Ability to make independent judgments and use initiative.
- Organisational Skills: Skilled in maintaining accurate records and presenting information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to meet travel requirements of the role: a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
You will be required to work flexibly including working two later evenings per week and 1 in 4 Saturdays to support family needs.
Why join us:
- Join a supportive team that values collaboration and professional development.
- Flexible working options, including a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
- Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.
- Competitive benefits package, including generous annual leave, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Applicants can expect to hear from us within two weeks of the advertised closing date.
