Purpose of the Role
The Engineering and Energy Manager is a client-facing role responsible for assisting the Senior Engineering and Energy Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining effective systems and procedures. These ensure the delivery and continuity of services related to Mechanical, Electrical, VT, Public Health, and IT Infrastructure at The White City Place Buildings for tenants and visitors, while safeguarding and enhancing the landlord's assets. The role also involves contributing to Health, Safety, and Wellbeing management for all building occupants and visitors.
The Engineering & Energy Manager will work alongside the Senior Engineering & Energy Manager and the wider property team, providing technical direction, operational planning, and solutions covering MEP, VT operations, and energy management to deliver a world-class service.
As a strong communicator, they will act as the interface for technical activities with the Managing Agent and will receive support from the Central Engineering Operations team as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Understand the mutual and strategic goals for the building and the client.
- Maintain high standards of service delivery, emphasizing technical innovation, sustainability, and customer focus.
- Ensure the team embraces the sustainability agenda and understands the drivers for change.
Operational/Technical
- Assist in delivering technical services operations through compliance teams and service partners.
- Ensure proactive, cost-effective, and reliable management of technical assets.
- Develop and review monthly audit programs and ensure proper reporting.
- Implement and monitor the CAFM system, ensuring all departments utilize reporting functionalities effectively.
- Assist in preparing and managing engineering service charge budgets, including specifications, orders, contracts, and invoice verification.
- Support environmental and energy conservation initiatives and ensure compliance with legislation and standards, including risk assessments, water treatment, lift inspections, etc.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and energy management, including smart platform optimization and ESG initiatives.
MEP
- Develop and maintain maintenance strategies and systems, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and lease agreements.
Fabric Management
- Hold regular meetings with the fabric management team to ensure cohesive management and project execution.
ICT
- Ensure ICT systems comply with statutory and data protection obligations, including GDPR.
Customer Orientation/Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain good relations with stakeholders and support the client's events and community programs.
- Report potential threats, incidents, or tenant issues promptly.
- Assist with occupier license applications and monitor tenant fit-out works for compliance.
Contract Management
- Manage utility contracts and relationships with site delivery partners.
- Develop specifications and scope for contracts, monitor service delivery, and ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
Health & Safety, Environment, and Risk Management
- Assist in maintaining health, safety, and environmental compliance, incident reporting, and risk management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Management experience with service partners and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of MEP, Fabric, ICT within a property management context.
- Experience with critical infrastructure, high voltage networks, alterations, and fit-outs.
- H&S qualification (ISOH/NEBOSH) is preferred.
- Strong IT skills and operational knowledge of critical works and change management systems.
