Job Title: Engage Instructor
Location: The Grange Therapeutic School, Oakham, LE15 8LY
Hours: 37.5 per hours week
Rota: Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm, Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm
Salary: £25,712.40 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent Term Time Only
Start: February 2026

About the Role

As an Engage Instructor, you will deliver personalised, alternative education programmes for pupils aged 8-18 with EHCPs for SEMH, ASD or related needs. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support pupils who require a flexible and tailored approach to learning, helping them re-engage with education, build confidence and make meaningful academic and personal progress. This is a dynamic and rewarding role requiring resilience, professionalism and the ability to build strong relationships with young people who may present with complex needs.

  • Plan and deliver individualised English and Maths sessions (up to Level 2) within the Engage programme, adapting learning to meet assessed needs.
  • Support pupils accessing alternative or off-site provision, including college placements, and provide coaching to promote engagement and progress.
  • Develop and maintain Individual Education Plans, risk assessments, timetables and pupil records, ensuring accurate reporting and attendance tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, external agencies and school colleagues to coordinate and review bespoke Engage programmes.
  • Promote pupils' personal development, integration and positive participation within the wider school community.
  • Adhere strictly to safeguarding, child protection and home visit procedures, ensuring the welfare of pupils at all times.
  • Contribute to meetings, departmental development and whole-school priorities, maintaining professionalism in complex or high-pressure situations.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Experience working with young people who find education challenging
  • Confidence delivering academic and vocational learning on a one-to-one basis
  • Strong IT skills, including use of databases and common software programmes
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes
