Educational Visits Adviser - Midlands (Remote)

Contract type: Full time / Seasonal or Fixed term

Location: Midlands (Remote) with periodic travel

Salary: £45,782 - £51,526

Closing date: 12 Aug :00 PM

Hours: 22 hours per week. Contract type: 12-month fixed term contract

Longtown Outdoor Learning Trust is an Outdoor Learning Charity based in Longtown, Herefordshire. The Trust runs a thriving residential Outdoor Learning Centre and a highly-regarded Educational Visits Advice Service (EVAS).

We are now seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Educational Visits Adviser to join the Longtown team on a 12-month contract, with potential for the role to become a permanent position.

Longtown EVAS provides advice, guidance and training to approximately 100 schools and settings mainly in the West and North Northamptonshire Council areas and in Bournemouth, Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury and Llanelli.

About the role

As our Educational Visits Adviser, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Trust's Educational Visits Advisory Service.
  • Supporting local authorities, multi academy trusts and schools to ensure that their educational visit policies, procedures and guidance remain current and compliant.
  • Providing high quality guidance, support, training and advice to educational establishments.
  • Delivering a variety of programmes accredited by the Association of Advisers for Outdoor Learning and Educational Visits (AAOLEV, formerly OEAP) including EVC training, EVC re-validation, Management of Visit Emergency training and Visit Leader training.
  • Using on-line systems to scrutinise and review visit plans, provide feedback to schools, maintain records of staff competence and monitor compliance.
  • In the event of a visit emergency, coordinating the Trust's response to schools and liaising with local authorities, governing bodies, and emergency planning teams.
About you

To be successful in the role you will need to have a background in teaching and learning in an educational setting, managing health and safety, and leading outdoor activities in remote environments.

  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety requirements, legislation and guidance for educational visits.
  • Experience of managing and leading young people in a range of off-site visits.
  • Experience of delivering training to a wide range of audiences.
  • Relevant qualifications in teaching and learning, health and safety, and outdoor leadership.
  • Strong communication, organisational and ICT skills.
  • Able to work flexibly in response to the work requirements. This may include evenings, weekends and responding to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and use all available resources to provide prompt effective guidance to schools when required.
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance relating to off-site visits.
  • Accredited member of AAOLEV (or working towards).
  • Experience of managing contracts.
  • Experience of using on-line visit planning platforms (e.g. eVisit).
