In this role, you will lead high integrity due diligence across a diverse portfolio of carbon projects, manage a team of due diligence specialists, and bring market leading insight to our clients and partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES Due Diligence- Manage the end-to-end due diligence process, allocating work and coordinating priorities with internal stakeholders and the Technical & Quality Director.
- Perform detailed, technical due diligence on selected projects, leading in-depth reviews of complex methodologies and projects.
- Identify, scope, and manage external specialist consultants as needed, including contracting, budget oversight, and delivery.
- Prepare and present recommendations (and pre-reads) to the DD Committee for escalated projects.
- Lead the development of in-house due diligence capabilities, tools, and templates for emerging project types and technologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our DD framework, templates, and communications in collaboration with the Technical & Quality Director.
- Support client-facing due diligence requests, ensuring timely, high-quality project information and participation in client meetings.
- Engage with ratings agencies and project partners to enhance ratings and demonstrate project quality.
- Evaluate new project types, methodologies, and standards - across nature-based, energy, and engineered solutions - to determine their integrity, feasibility, and market alignment.
- Provide expert analysis of evolving methodologies and monitoring approaches to inform strategic decisions and ensure compliance with global carbon market standards.
- Stay abreast of key quality changes in the industry (e.g. Core Carbon Principles, ABACUS, and emerging technologies), sharing insight on implications for our supply strategy and client propositions.
- Collaborate with other internal technical experts to shape company positions and responses to relevant industry developments.
- Contribute to thought leadership activities - such as webinars, podcasts, and newsletters - showcasing our technical expertise and market insights.
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in environmental science, engineering, climate policy, or a related field.
- Significant experience in carbon markets, climate technology, and/or sustainability, with a strong focus on technical due diligence, project evaluation, or carbon project development.
- Proven experience with nature-based and carbon removal technologies and methodologies (3 or more of: ARR, IFM, REDD+, biochar, DAC, BECCS, ERW, ocean based solutions).
- Hands on experience with major carbon standards, methodologies, validation/verification processes, and ratings frameworks.
- Track record managing external consultants, budgets, and delivering results in a multi stakeholder environment.
- Experience working in emerging markets or with on the ground project implementation is highly desirable.
- Strong technical understanding of project development cycles and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, & Verification).
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to assess complex projects and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - able to translate technical detail for both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Highly organised, self motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for climate impact and quality in carbon markets.
