Job ref 435-1LSC-UHMBT-074-26 Contract Permanent Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (5 days over 7, 07 00). Salary £25,272 per annum, pro rata (pay award pending). Site Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Town Lancaster. Closing 09/07/:00.

Job overview

As a Domestic Assistant (cleaner) you will be part of a team ensuring high standards of cleanliness across clinical, public and external areas within the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. You will contribute to a safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in clinical, public and external areas using recognized cleaning methods.
  • Identify areas requiring cleaning and plan & organise a cleaning programme in collaboration with ward or departmental staff, safeguarding patient, staff and visitor safety.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturer instructions, ensuring safe and effective use, and report faults immediately to supervisor.
  • Perform deep clean and isolation cleans following national and local guidelines.
  • Carry out spot cleaning to address spillages and incidents swiftly and efficiently, with support from clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Adhere to all relevant COSHH assessments and safety data sheets when preparing, using and disposing of cleaning chemicals.
Person specification Education and qualifications
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH.
Experience
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of cleaning in a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of cross contamination risks within a healthcare environment.
  • Previous cleaning experience.
Skills, ability and knowledge
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Ability to manage day to day workloads linked to hygiene procedures and follow written cleaning instructions.
  • Understanding of written and spoken instructions.
  • Teamwork and initiative, with minimal supervision.
  • Handling hazardous cleaning chemicals responsibly.
  • Interaction with a diverse range of people face to face.
  • Communication within a team and provision of constructive feedback.
  • Knowledge of infection control in the cleaning environment.
