Job Description
S&T Product Development, Senior

This role is focused on developing Fouling Control products to expand the Fouling Control portfolio. You will be responsible for global product development and support the commercialization of the products. This position requires close collaboration with various functions such as other S&T innovation teams, marketing, and commercial teams based worldwide. The Senior Product Development professional will report directly to the Team Leader of the Fouling Control team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory-based research and development of premium antifouling coatings.
  • Deliver the assigned R&D deliverables for global and complex Product Development projects, including agile project set up for new growth areas for PPG.
  • Collaborate with the Global Marine platform to successfully bring projects to market.
  • Operate as part of a wider multidisciplinary R&D team and cross-functional network of PPG Innovation Centers, collaborating closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Product Stewardship, Operations and Procurement.
  • Drive innovation in the area of Marine Fouling control.
  • Report key milestones to the Marine leadership team.
  • Be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, leveraging best in class practices throughout all R&D activities and driving speed to market. This includes establishing and maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Ensure milestones and key deliverables are met to drive project execution.
  • Ensure Intellectual Property progression is met from ideation through application to ensure PPG's competitive advantage.
  • Promote and foster a broad safety culture within global laboratories.
  • Travel as required, including international travel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in Fouling Control: Antifouling and/ or Fouling Release for Marine applications.
  • Proven experience in research, product development, manufacturing, process engineering, commercialization and/or customer orientation.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to persuasively communicate and gain agreement on proposals and technical strategies at the executive level.
  • Excellent internal stakeholder communication, technical risk management and proactive communication.
  • Solid business acumen and integration of Manufacturing, Research and Business strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build strong relationships with internal and external partners, including remote teams.
