About the Role

We are looking for a AI Developer/Full-Stack AI Engineer to design, build and operate production-grade AI systems from end to end.

This is a hands-on engineering role covering the full AI technology stack, including machine learning, deep learning, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG and agentic AI workflows.

You will take ownership of AI solutions from initial data and experimentation through to deployment, monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will combine strong traditional software engineering skills with modern AI-assisted development, using tools such as Claude Code and Cursor alongside manual coding.

You will work extensively with Python, Azure, Git, CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes, building AI systems that are reliable, observable, secure and suitable for production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, train, evaluate and deploy machine learning and deep learning models across areas including classification, regression, ranking, NLP, computer vision and time series.
• Design and develop LLM-powered applications using platforms such as Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI or equivalent models.
• Build production-grade RAG solutions, including chunking, embeddings, vector databases and re-ranking.
• Develop agentic AI workflows with tool use, orchestration, guardrails and human-in-the-loop processes.
• Apply prompt engineering, fine-tuning and structured output techniques.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and measure AI quality through offline evaluations and online metrics.
• Build and maintain robust data and feature pipelines on Azure.
• Productionise AI and ML workloads using strong MLOps practices, including model versioning, automated retraining, drift detection and rollback strategies.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code and Cursor effectively while maintaining strong manual coding and code-review standards.
• Manage source code using Git, branching strategies and pull-request-based development.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or equivalent technologies.
• Deploy and operate AI services on Microsoft Azure, including containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or Bicep.
• Implement logging, tracing and evaluation capabilities to monitor AI system quality, latency and cost.
• Work with security and compliance teams around data privacy, PII/PHI, prompt injection and AI/model risk.
• Work closely with product, scientific and business stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into practical AI solutions.
• Mentor engineers on AI-assisted development and best practices for building LLM-based applications.
• Conduct technical design and code reviews, promoting security, evaluation and observability as core engineering principles.

Essential Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and deploying ML/AI systems into production.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, alongside libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas and NumPy.
• Proven experience developing and deploying LLM-based applications.
• Experience with Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI or equivalent LLM platforms.
• Practical experience building RAG applications and embedding pipelines.
• Experience with at least one production vector store, such as Azure AI Search or pgvector.
• Experience developing agentic AI workflows, tool use and orchestration.
• Strong understanding of prompt engineering, structured outputs and AI evaluation.
• Demonstrable experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code and/or Cursor.
• Strong understanding of Git, branching strategies and pull-request-based development.
• Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines, particularly Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Experience deploying production services on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong Docker experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes/AKS.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Strong understanding of MLOps, monitoring, observability and production AI operations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts and technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working effectively within a fully remote, globally distributed team.

Education

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline is preferred.

Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
