Design Manager - Residential Development

Location: Donnybrook, Dublin, with site visits across Kildare, Wicklow and Meath

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

A leading residential developer is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its technical team at head office in Donnybrook. The successful Design Manager will oversee the technical delivery of residential development projects, coordinating design consultants, managing statutory approvals and ensuring all technical information is delivered in line with project programmes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the technical delivery of residential developments from planning approval through design coordination, procurement and construction commencement.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, civil, M&E and specialist consultant teams to ensure designs are fully coordinated and delivered on programme.
• Manage consultant performance, chair design team meetings and resolve technical issues throughout the design process.
• Oversee planning condition discharge, statutory approvals and technical compliance documentation.
• Review design information for buildability, value engineering opportunities and commercially viable construction solutions.
• Coordinate technical information, drawings and specialist subcontractor submissions during procurement and pre-construction.
• Liaise with commercial, construction and project teams to ensure technical requirements are incorporated into project delivery.
• Maintain technical trackers, monitor project risks and ensure outstanding design issues and approvals are progressed efficiently.

Requirements

• Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience within a residential developer, architectural practice, design management environment or main contractor.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing technical information.
• Strong understanding of the construction and development process, from planning through to construction.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations, statutory approvals and Irish construction requirements.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with residential or mixed-use developments would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with BCAR, Procore, SharePoint, BIM or modern methods of construction would be beneficial.
