Deputy Chief Pharmacist - Mental Health Services

An exciting opportunity has become available to join NottsHC as a Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Mental Health Services. This includes leading on the medicines optimisation agenda across our inpatient and community mental health services, including CAMHS and Perinatal.

You will lead dedicated teams within the care group and be part of the senior leadership team across pharmacy and the care group. You will also have the opportunity to work with external stakeholders within the care system.

As we are a large healthcare provider with a variety of services, you should have extensive clinical experience in these specialisms along with experience of leadership.

You will be supported by the Chief Pharmacist, other Deputy Chief Pharmacists and Care Group Directors. This is an ideal position for someone aspiring to become Chief Pharmacist within the next 3-5 years.

Main duties of the job
  • Be the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for the Mental Health Services Care Group providing expert advice to the Care Group leadership and management teams.
  • Deputise for the Chief Pharmacist on a range of issues and lead on delegated areas, as part of the programme of pharmacy and medicines optimisation in the Trust and external organisations.
  • Be part of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and assist the Chief Pharmacist with the strategic planning of pharmacy services.
  • Support the Trust in meeting its regulatory requirements through the implementation of Medicines Optimisation, including leading the Trust's efforts on delegated portfolio items within the respective care groups.
Job responsibilities
  • Valid UK driving licence and vehicle for business use required.
Qualifications
  • Registered to practice with GPhC
  • Current membership of CMHP
  • Post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy subject
  • Diploma in psychiatric pharmacy
  • Credentialed member of CHMP

  • Significant recent experience of hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of specialist work in mental health field
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Experience of developing and delivering programmes of training

  • Service planning and development
Knowledge
  • Awareness of NHS changes and understanding of pharmacy issues within NHS and Mental Health in particular
  • Specialist mental health knowledge and application to clinical practice
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and presentation
  • IT literate - including proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and presentation
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Proven track record in ability to influence
  • Delivery of pharmacist or pharmacy led clinics as a prescriber or clinician

Salary: £79,504 to £91,609 a year (pro rata for part time)
