Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Debt Recovery Officer to join a busy Adult Social Care Debt Recovery team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with debt recovery experience to manage a varied caseload, negotiate repayment arrangements and support customers while delivering effective recovery outcomes.
Key Details:
- Contract: Initially 2 months, with potential for extension
- Location: Maidenhead, SL6
- Rate: £17.73 per hour PAYE / £23.04 per hour Umbrella
- Working Pattern: Full Time
- Working Hours: Flexible working hours (Flexitime)
- Working Arrangement: Hybrid
- Office Attendance: Initially 2-3 days per week for training, then approximately 2 days per week
- Interview Process: One-stage MS Teams interview
- Start Date: September 2026
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Adult Social Care debt recovery cases and pursue outstanding balances.
- Monitor debt accounts and implement appropriate recovery action.
- Negotiate repayment arrangements with customers and their representatives.
- Liaise with Adult Social Care teams, internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Handle customer enquiries via telephone, email and written correspondence.
- Maintain accurate records, case notes and recovery activity.
- Support collection targets while delivering excellent customer service.
- Manage sensitive conversations with vulnerable customers, including elderly residents and individuals receiving care support.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Previous Debt Recovery or Debt Collection experience.
- Experience managing high-volume caseloads.
- Strong administration and data management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Experience within a Local Authority or Public Sector environment is highly desirable.
- Experience with Adult Social Care debt recovery would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Mosaic or similar case management systems is beneficial.
