Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Debt Recovery Officer to join a busy Adult Social Care Debt Recovery team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with debt recovery experience to manage a varied caseload, negotiate repayment arrangements and support customers while delivering effective recovery outcomes.

Key Details:

  • Contract: Initially 2 months, with potential for extension
  • Location: Maidenhead, SL6
  • Rate: £17.73 per hour PAYE / £23.04 per hour Umbrella
  • Working Pattern: Full Time
  • Working Hours: Flexible working hours (Flexitime)
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid
  • Office Attendance: Initially 2-3 days per week for training, then approximately 2 days per week
  • Interview Process: One-stage MS Teams interview
  • Start Date: September 2026

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Adult Social Care debt recovery cases and pursue outstanding balances.
  • Monitor debt accounts and implement appropriate recovery action.
  • Negotiate repayment arrangements with customers and their representatives.
  • Liaise with Adult Social Care teams, internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Handle customer enquiries via telephone, email and written correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes and recovery activity.
  • Support collection targets while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Manage sensitive conversations with vulnerable customers, including elderly residents and individuals receiving care support.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Previous Debt Recovery or Debt Collection experience.
  • Experience managing high-volume caseloads.
  • Strong administration and data management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Experience within a Local Authority or Public Sector environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Adult Social Care debt recovery would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Mosaic or similar case management systems is beneficial.
